Super Bulky, Super Slouchy


Pattern for a quick slouchy hat. Takes about 4 hours from start to finish.

Materials:
Size 9 needles
Size 13 needles
Tapestry needle
Super Bulky Yarn, approx 90-100 yards.

Gauge:  4 sts by 5 rows in 1 square inch of 2X2 ribbing in smaller sized needle.

Pattern:
In smaller needle, cast on 50 stitches.
Work 10 rows of k2p2 ribbing.
Switch to larger needle.
RS *k1, m1L, k3, m1R, k1* rep to end of row (70 sts)
K straight in stockinette stitch until entire piece measures 7 inches long. For a slouchier hat, knit until the piece is longer than 7 inches before beginning to decreases. For a less slouchy hat, begin decreases before the hat is 7 inches from the start.

Begin decreases:
RS *k1, k2tog, k8, ssk,k1* rep to end (60 sts)
WS P all stitches
RS *k1, k2tog, k6, ssk, k1* rep to end (50 sts)
WS P all stitches
RS *k1, k2tog, k4, ssk, k1* rep to end (40 sts)
WS P all stitches
RS *k1, k2tog, k2, ssk, k1* rep to end (30 sts)
WS P all stitches
RS *k1, k2tog, ssk, k1* rep to end (20 sts)
WS P all stitches
RS *k2tog, ssk* rep to end (10 sts)
WS P all stitches
RS *k2tog, ssk* to end (5 sts)
Break yarn, leaving a long tail. Draw though remaining stitches, and sew up side seam.
