Owl Pattern

Pattern for this little stash-buster owl, turn work at end of each row.
Use a needle a size or two smaller than you would for that type of yarn, to ensure no leaky stuffing.

 Used:
US size 6 (4mm) straight needles.
MC: Lion Brand Yarn: Vanna's Choice: Sapphire (Less than 50 yards)
CC1: Bamboo Ewe: Periwinkle (Less than 5 yards)
CC2: Red Heart Super Saver: White (Less than 10 yards)
CC3: Paton's Sock Yarn (Less than 15 yards)
Tapestry Needle

Head:

In MC Cast on: 16 stitches
Row 1 (Right Side): KFB each stitch (32)
Row 2 (Wrong Side): purl
Row 3: KFB each stitch (64)
Row 4: purl
Row 5: knit
Row 6: purl
Row 7: knit
Row 8: purl
Row 9: knit
Row 10: purl
Row 11: knit
Row 12: purl
Row 13: knit
Row 14: purl
Row 15: knit
Row 16: purl
Row 17: knit
Row 18: purl
Row 19: knit
Row 20: purl 2 tog. (32)
Row 21: k2tog (16)

Break thread & draw through remaining sts on needle, pull tight. Seam up the back.


Eyes  
Colored part: 

In CC1 Cast on: 2
Row 1: KFB (4)
Row 2: k2tog (2)
Bind off.

Make 2.
In CC2 White part: (Note that they are of 2 different sizes. If you wish, you can make them the same size ^.^ )
Small
Cast on: 2
Row 1: KFB (4)
Row 2:  K1, KFB, K1, KFB (6)
Bind off & sew edges together.

Large
Cast on: 2
Row 1: KFB (4)
Row 2: KFB (8)
Bind off & sew edges together. 

Beak
Cast on: 5
Row 1: K2tog, K1, K2tog,
Row 2: K3tog
Bind off

Wings: (Make 2)
In MC Cast On: 10
Knit 5 rows.
Row 6: K3, SSK, K2tog, K3  (8)
Row 7: K2, SSK, K2tog, K2 (6)
Row 8: K, SSK, K2tog, K (4)
Bind off

In MC Tail
Cast on: 10
Row 1: K3, SSK, K2tog, K3 (8)
Row 2: K2, SSK, K2tog, K2 (6)
Row 3: K, SSK, K2tog, K (4)
Row 4: SSK, K2tog (2)
Bind off.

In MC Body: 
Cast on: 16
Row 1: KFB (32)
Work straight in garter stitch for 10 rows.
Row 12: K2tog (16)
Break thread & Draw through all rem. sts. on needle. Pull tight and seam. 

Optional scarf:
In CC3 Cast on: 40
Knit 4-5 rows
Bind off
